11 Days Tour In California and San Francisco (Part 3)

Day 5 (2nd October 2008)

After 1 night stay at Anaheim, our next destination is San Francisco. On our way to San Francisco, we have another destination to go. That is, The Mystery Spot at Santa Cruz, California.

The mystery spot is an area about 150 feet in diameter located int the redwood forests just outside of Santa Cruz. It is discovered in 1939 and opened to public in1940. Within the Mystery Spot the laws of physics do not apply. It appears as though every law of gravitation had gone haywire, just doesn't make sense. Some unseen magnetism or phenomenon just upsets all former ideas of equilibrium. And it will make you stand up leaning backways or sideways.

Look at this photo. We are standing at a carpenter's level across 2 cement blocks. For the photo on the left, my hubby is a forehead taller then me. Now look at the photo on the right. My hubby is a head taller then me. We are standing on a level ground of same place. Who can explain why???

Now look at this photo. The same thing. Look at the photo on the left. I'm so much shorter then my hubby and the photo on the right, I'm about the same height with hubby. Yes, by looking at the floor, u might say because the floor is not level. But, the tour guide had used the equilibrium and proof to us, it's a level ground.

When we enter the house, we are so so so giddy.. duno why..and look at the photo.. haha.. my body is slanting! I vow.. we never tilted the camera. That's how you stand when you are inside. The tour guide even demo the flow of water.. It just flow backwards..though it's a level ground. And when are left the house, we need to walk down a steep slope.. and to our amaze, we dun have the feeling of want to roll down. Some force seems to be pulling me back and refrain me from falling. haha.. so miracle..

It's crazy. It's perplexing. It's Nature's Magic! That's why it's called THE MYSTERY SPOT!

After visiting the mystery spot, we continue our drive to San Francisco. It's late evening when we reach. So we check in to the Heritage Marina Hotel. Wahaha.. For the first 2 hotel, we have 2 queen size bed.. and for this room, we have... KING size bed!! Wa.. finally.. ever since we came to the desert, we had been sleeping on queen size bed.. I miss my King bed back in Singapore.. haiz..
After settling down at the hotel, we walk to the Fisherman's Wharf for dinner. It consists of a long coast side row of seafood restaurants, street vendors, souvenir stores and beautiful ocean scenery. Fisherman's Wharf was originally a major fishing pier and although the fishing industry is still alive today, the main focus of this specific coastal area is its historical tourist attractions.

After 15 minutes walk from the hotel, we finally reached the Fisherman's Wharf and very cold ah.. haha.. We walk pass many restaurant and all of them are selling steam crabs and most famous.. calm chowder in bread bowl. Yes.. just like something we saw at Bugis food court.. The soup are so yummy and great especially during such a cold weather.

Day 6 (3rd October 2008)

Good morning! We had a light breakfast in the hotel cafe and we start our tour of the day. Hm.. not feeling very good today. I ate flu medicine over the night and still kind of drowsy ah.. I look ugly in today's photos.. No more double eyelid.. only single eyelid.. haiz..

The 1st itinerary - Lombard Street. The picturesque stretch of Lombard Street had eight angles along a single block. They twist at acute angles, making for a very slow going if you are in a car, though, oddly enough, cars are the reason for designing the street this way back in 1922. The idea being this design is to make it easier for them to negotiate the steep 16% grade.

Next, we visit the Alcatraz Island. Hmm.. only view from this angle. We did not went in to explore. Haha..
This place used to be a prison but now, it's no longer a prison for some of America's most dangerous offenders.

Hungry already.. haha.. after visiting that 2 places, we are now going to the Chinatown for brunch.. And we went to a Hongkong restaurant for Dim Sum! Yummy.. they taste really really good..especially the egg tarts!

We are full now.. It's shopping time! We are now at the market street of San Francisco! Crazy ah.. really alots of branded stuff.. a shopping paradise. No wonder rich people always like to fly to San Francisco for shopping..

After shopping, we went to Pier 39 to see Sea lions! These California sea lions "hauled out" on pier 39's K-Dock shortly after 1989 San Francisco earthquake. The population grew from 50 to more then 300 within a couple of months in 1990. During winters, the population grows as high as 900! Btw, sea lions are different from seals ok! How to differentiate? Haha.. Sea lions have external ear flaps, seals do not!.

Next, we went to the golden gate bridge to capture some of the night view. So nice.. with the lights on. It was so windy and COLD... after taking a few photos, it stared to rain.. and so we decide to come back for day view tomolo. Next we went to the Hard Rock Cafe to get our 2nd souvenir glass.. haha..
